“A superstar is a force of who they are. There’s no contriving it. They know who they are, they express who they are, and they work hard to communicate that to the world.”Eric Contractor

The story

Northern New Jersey singer-songwriter Eric Contractor creates music that feels as though it belongs somewhere between a late-night confession and a scene from a film.

Drawing inspiration from the raw character of early rock ’n’ roll, the storytelling traditions of country and singer-songwriter music, and a darker modern art-rock sensibility, Eric has developed a sound built around his distinctive baritone voice, poetic lyrics, and emotionally cinematic approach to songwriting.

For Eric, authenticity is at the center of the work. His songs explore love, longing, isolation, relationships, and the complicated emotions that often exist between them. That philosophy is especially present in “Wouldn’t Wish It On Anyone,” the original song he performs on The Superstar Denise Show™. Inspired by the end of a real relationship, Eric describes the song as a completely truthful account—without invented details or poetic fabrication—capturing the strange conflict of knowing a relationship needs to end while still having empathy for the person on the other side of it.

It’s that willingness to turn something deeply personal into something another person can recognize in themselves that makes Eric’s music resonate.

With a sound rooted in another era but expressed through a distinctly modern perspective, Eric Contractor isn’t interested in manufacturing a persona. He creates from who he is—and believes that knowing who you are, expressing it confidently, and working relentlessly to bring that vision to an audience is what being a superstar is really about.
